Ride with GPS API Integration

Terra's Ride with GPS web API integration unlocks a window into another cycling-focused integration. The Ride with GPS integration will provide your app with GPS data from the app, and will let you track users' workouts in detail - giving you access to distance information sampled every few seconds, speed, calories and more.

Two ways to receive Ride with GPS data

When data is available from a Ride with GPS device, Terra sends it straight to your webhook. During your Terra account setup you'll be prompted for a callback URL, and that is where Terra POSTs each payload.

Ride with GPS does not notify Terra when data changes, so Terra polls it every 5–10 minutes for each connected user and POSTs the normalized payload to your webhook.

Terra API preserves the raw data from the wearable, it just standardizes the units and the json format. It doesn’t augment or change the raw data in any way.

Data is organized into one of 6 data types.

People Often Ask Us...

How do I get Ride with GPS data through an API?

Your user connects their Ride with GPS account through the Terra widget, and Terra reads the rides recorded there, normalizes each one into a standard Activity payload and POSTs it to your webhook. The same rides are readable over the Terra REST API.

How quickly does Ride with GPS data reach my app?

Terra polls Ride with GPS every 5–10 minutes for each connected user, so new data reaches your webhook within that window of a device sync.

What data is available from Ride with GPS through Terra?

Through Terra's Ride with GPS integration, you can access activity data.

How granular is Ride with GPS activity data?

Ride with GPS is a navigation-first platform, so rides come back with GPS traces and distance sampled every few seconds through the workout, along with speed and calories — enough to replay a route rather than summarise it.

Do I need Ride with GPS API credentials?

No provider credentials are required. Your user authenticates with their own Ride with GPS login through the Terra widget, and you register nothing on your side.
