MapMyFitness API Integration

Terra's MapMyFitness web API integration will provide your app with a range of activity data from users' workouts from across their suite of apps: MapMyFitness, MapMyRun, MapMyRide, and MapMyWalk, which are GPS-based tracking apps for different activities. The Terra MapMyFitness API integration will send you calorie information for the amount of energy expended during workouts, and will provide you with metrics such as distance, speed, and GPS location data.

Two ways to receive MapMyFitness data

When data is available from a MapMyFitness device, Terra sends it straight to your webhook. During your Terra account setup you'll be prompted for a callback URL, and that is where Terra POSTs each payload.

MapMyFitness does not notify Terra when data changes, so Terra polls it every 5–10 minutes for each connected user and POSTs the normalized payload to your webhook.

Terra API preserves the raw data from the wearable, it just standardizes the units and the json format. It doesn’t augment or change the raw data in any way.

Data is organized into one of 6 data types.

People Often Ask Us...

How do I access MapMyFitness data through an API?

Terra's MapMyFitness integration is a web API integration covering the whole Under Armour app family. Your user connects once through the Terra widget, and workouts recorded in MapMyFitness, MapMyRun, MapMyRide and MapMyWalk are normalized by Terra and delivered to your webhook.

How quickly does MapMyFitness data reach my app?

Terra polls MapMyFitness every 5–10 minutes for each connected user, so new data reaches your webhook within that window of a device sync.

What data is available from MapMyFitness through Terra?

Through Terra's MapMyFitness integration, you can access activity data.

What does a MapMyFitness activity payload contain?

GPS-based workout detail: distance covered, speed, location samples across the route, and the calories burned during the session. Terra maps them onto its standard Activity payload so they parse alongside every other provider you support.

Do I need my own MapMyFitness API key?

No. Terra manages the MapMyFitness API credentials, so there is nothing to request from the Under Armour developer portal before you connect users.

Can't Find Your Question?

What devices are supported?
