MapMyRun API Integration

MapMyRun is part of the broader MapMyFitness ecosystem, and Terra's web API integration offers your app access to detailed running activity data. Designed for runners, MapMyRun uses GPS technology to capture all relevant workout metrics, including calories burned, distance run, running speed, and GPS-based location tracking for each workout.

Two ways to receive MapMyRun data

When data is available from a MapMyRun device, Terra sends it straight to your webhook. During your Terra account setup you'll be prompted for a callback URL, and that is where Terra POSTs each payload.

MapMyRun does not notify Terra when data changes, so Terra polls it every 5–10 minutes for each connected user and POSTs the normalized payload to your webhook.

Terra API preserves the raw data from the wearable, it just standardizes the units and the json format. It doesn’t augment or change the raw data in any way.

Data is organized into one of 6 data types.

People Often Ask Us...

How do I access MapMyRun running data through an API?

MapMyRun sits inside the MapMyFitness ecosystem, and Terra's integration reads it directly. Your user connects through the Terra widget, and every run they record is normalized into a standard Activity payload and POSTed to your webhook.

How quickly does MapMyRun data reach my app?

Terra polls MapMyRun every 5–10 minutes for each connected user, so new data reaches your webhook within that window of a device sync.

What data is available from MapMyRun through Terra?

Through Terra's MapMyRun integration, you can access activity data.

What running metrics does MapMyRun return?

MapMyRun tracks runs over GPS, so each session carries distance run, running speed and pace, the route's location samples, and calories burned — enough to chart a run rather than just record that one happened.

Do I need a separate integration for MapMyRide or MapMyWalk?

No. All four Under Armour apps share one account system, so a user who connects MapMyRun through Terra brings their MapMyRide, MapMyWalk and MapMyFitness history with them under the same connection.
