MapMyWalk API Integration

MapMyWalk is part of the broader MapMyFitness ecosystem, and with Terra's web API integration, your app can access activity data from users' walking workouts. MapMyWalk is a GPS-based app designed for walking activities, and the Terra API will provide your app with metrics such as calories burned, walking distance, speed, and GPS location data to help track user progress in walking routines.

Two ways to receive MapMyWalk data

When data is available from a MapMyWalk device, Terra sends it straight to your webhook. During your Terra account setup you'll be prompted for a callback URL, and that is where Terra POSTs each payload.

MapMyWalk does not notify Terra when data changes, so Terra polls it every 5–10 minutes for each connected user and POSTs the normalized payload to your webhook.

Terra API preserves the raw data from the wearable, it just standardizes the units and the json format. It doesn’t augment or change the raw data in any way.

Data is organized into one of 6 data types.

People Often Ask Us...

How do I access MapMyWalk data through an API?

Terra's MapMyWalk integration is part of the MapMyFitness family. Your user connects through the Terra widget, and each walk they log is normalized into a standard Activity payload and delivered to your webhook.

How quickly does MapMyWalk data reach my app?

Terra polls MapMyWalk every 5–10 minutes for each connected user, so new data reaches your webhook within that window of a device sync.

What data is available from MapMyWalk through Terra?

Through Terra's MapMyWalk integration, you can access activity data.

What does MapMyWalk record for each session?

MapMyWalk is GPS-based, so every walk carries distance, speed, location data across the route, and calories burned — the metrics you need to track progress in a walking or step-goal programme.

Do I need MapMyWalk API credentials?

No. Terra manages the MapMyFitness API credentials behind MapMyWalk, so there is nothing to register with Under Armour on your side.
