Elliott Yu is Head of Infrastructure at Terra, leading the systems that turn fragmented, provider-specific health data into a unified, reliable layer for developers. His focus is on abstracting ecosystem complexity and delivering production-grade data that can be used without additional processing.

He owns the infrastructure stack end to end, including OAuth flows, token lifecycle management, large-scale ingestion, historical backfills, and real-time event streaming. His systems support both polling and webhooks, with built-in handling for retries, idempotency, deduplication, and consistency across providers with different constraints.

His work is centered on scale and performance, managing high volumes of time-series data with controlled payloads, chunked transfers, and low-latency delivery. The systems are designed to handle partial failures and provider instability while maintaining predictable outputs.

He also drives data standardization, ensuring normalized schemas, aligned timestamps, and consistent models across activity, sleep, and biometrics, so developers can build without handling provider-specific differences.

At Terra, his focus is to make health data behave like reliable infrastructure, bridging data supply and product demand with systems that are stable, usable, and ready for real-world applications.
