April Updates

🚀 Terra Update: 4,200 + Biomarkers & Semi-Open Beta for the Biomarkers API 🚀

TL;DR:

  • 4.2 k biomarkers (blood + urine) now standardized in the Blood Reports API.

  • Enum registry ensures rock‑solid mapping across labs, units, and languages.

  • Biomarkers API beta is open to all — enable it in the dashboard’s Connections page and start integrating today!

🧬 Giant Biomarker Expansion

What?

Terra’s Blood Reports API now recognizes roughly 4,200 distinct biomarkers — a four‑fold increase that spans both traditional blood chemistries and hard‑to‑access urine metabolites. From mainstream panels like LDL‑C and HbA1c to emerging markers such as β‑hydroxybutyrate or micro‑albumin, every result is parsed, tagged with a universal enum, and streamed back in a single, normalized JSON schema that eliminates laboratory‑to‑laboratory chaos. 📈🩸

How?

Scaling from hundreds to thousands of markers required some data‑engineering work in our sprints. Our clinical informatics team hand‑mapped every new analyte against international LOINC, SNOMED, and ICD‑10 vocabularies, while machine‑learning models learned to detect wildly different report layouts, unit conventions, and language variants. A new enum registry now auto‑version‑controls each marker, guaranteeing forward compatibility as fresh assays enter the market. 🔧🤖

Why?

Precision‑health apps need granular, longitudinal data to surface actionable insights, yet real‑world lab files arrive in fragmented PDFs, multilingual text, or image‑only scans. By covering virtually every biomarker physicians order today, we remove the integration tax for developers and empower clinicians, insurers, and wellness platforms to trend anything from cardiac risk scores to hydration status with a single API call. Better coverage = better insights = healthier users. 🌟

🔓 Biomarkers API Beta Goes semi-public

📅 What?

The Biomarkers API has moved from invite‑only to semi-open beta 🎉. Any Terra customer can request access to it directly from the Connections tab inside the dashboard. Once enabled, developers gain immediate access to the waitlist for uploading, parsing, and retrieving enriched lab data, complete with contextual ranges, and clinician‑friendly enums.

🤔 Why?

Unlocking access to lab data is central to Terra’s mission. Early adopters proved the Biomarkers API can slash integration timelines by 90 %, but broader feedback is essential before general availability. By opening up the beta more, we invite digital‑health startups, insurers, and research groups to pressure‑test at scale, steer the roadmap, and help us polish everything from data‑quality metrics to pricing. More voices mean a stronger, more future‑proof product for everyone. 🌍💡

💻 How?

To handle a sudden influx of new beta testers, our team's onboarding wizards walk teams through sample payloads, sandbox testing, and best‑practice webhooks once customers are approved for access after signing up. ⚙️📊
