Startup Spotlight: Evolut Wellness

Startup Spotlight is an interview series where we ask health, fitness, and wellness startups that use Terra, to share their wisdom from their own journey to success and also where they see fitness data going in the future.

In this Spotlight, we connected with Vinuthna Gorripati, co-founder and director at Evolut Wellness, an app focused on Integrated Wellness with Fitness, Nutrition, Diabetes management, and Diagnostics as the leading verticals. With a focus on Diabetes, they aim to educate people on pre-diabetes reversal and management with the help of various tools like AI chatbot, access to wearables through Terra, doctors, and fitness/nutrition coaches to help people manage this disease effectively. They have made teleconsultations available on the app for diabetes to reduce the waiting time in hospitals and increase the doc-to-patient ratio in the coming years.

This idea was developed from a personal pain when my husband was diagnosed with Diabetes at the age of 36

Lack of knowledge or seriousness towards the prediabetes stage has led to the onset of this disease early in my husband. I have then realized that many people though well educated do face this situation due to gaps in understanding the disease and the body and that made us start Evolut Wellness.

How did you turn your idea into a company?

This idea of starting something related to diabetes turned our vision into integrated wellness as we are what we eat, what we exercise, and how we take care of our health. This very ideology has developed or framed our core verticals of the app and we named it Evolut which means to ‘evolve'

Coming into a space that we never had an experience with was the major challenge at the beginning

We have adapted, learned, and evolved constantly and we have come a long way in this 1 and a half-year journey and every day we take it as a challenge to constantly give the best and expand our vision of integrated wellness to as many people as possible

We use health data to monitor and help our users/ patients to derive the best possible outcomes

Our experts at Evolut evaluate this health data and suggest simple lifestyle changes to our users which will help them in a long way in future disease prevention. We track all the vitals like glucose levels, steps, calories burnt, blood pressure and sleep with the help of Terra, we also track medications and send reminders to our users on time and we maintain health records of the user which can be directly exported to the doctors, which in turn help the doctors to reduce their screening time in the patients as all the data is already recorded.

All the health data is scattered right now

People do not have proper records of all their data in one place to refer by themselves or to send to their practitioner which will increase the screening time in patients and leads to delayed diagnosis. We maintain structured reports with all the data we have on our users which plays a big role in research and preventive healthcare in the coming years.

The future of health care is the big data

This data is very valuable in terms of research done in the coming years to prevent diseases like Diabetes.
