New Dashboard - doing things that don't scale

For the last few months, we were religiously following the advice of Paul Graham - do things that don't scale.

That meant that we created a landing page, connected to a Mailchimp, and enabled users to sign up for Terra.

Then, we were reaching out, scheduling calls, and guided them through the installation of the api.

This process was taking a while, at the best cases around a week.

Hence, the sales and tech requests were done manually.

Some users were requesting to change where they receive the data (Webhook urls), or how often they receive the data, or even customising the data they wanted (such as receiving more or less data).

The approach of PG really helped us to concentrate on the important things, and to focus on learning from our users.

Now, we reached to a point that we started getting so many sign ups, that it's simply not sustainable. And the user requests are so many, that we probably need another 10 people to serve that need.

Furthermore, we are slightly transitioning to something more scalable.

Since we learned so much from our users, we created our new dashboard.

The new dashboard, is enabling our users to reduce the amount it takes to connect to Terra (from weeks to minutes). You can sign up for a new account, and get started immediately.

In addition, we created a couple of videos, to help you get started straight away.

But we don't stop there.

We took all those requests that we were doing manually, and added them as features to the dashboard.

For example, a user can now change their Webhook url easily. They can change the type of data they receive, and the frequency they do so. Yes - you can customize the data you receive.

In addition, we embedded the payment features.

We are adding more and more features on a daily basis - and obviously we will be improving the UI too.

Here is the list of what you can do with the dashboard:

  • Sign up for Terra
  • Access Production, Staging and Testing keys
  • Change your Webhook URL
  • Customise the scopes you receive
  • Customise the update frequency, of the data you receive
  • Customise the type of data you receive, based on Activity, Daily, Sleep, Body and Menstruation data
  • Generate data for testing
  • Test all wearable providers in their industry for the response times

New features are coming daily, and if you have any in mind, just message me.
