IC Hack 2023

This past weekend we had the opportunity to attend IC Hack 2023 at Imperial College London, regarded as UK's largest university hackathon, with over 600 students attending. As a gold sponsor of the event, we had the opportunity to select a prize category for which students could sign up in teams of six.

Our prize category for this year was -

"Most Innovative Hack using Health Data"

Raouf presenting during the opening ceremony of IC Hack 2023

We named our challenge for the weekend "Road to Asgard - Thor's Challenge, " meant to resemble how our team at Terra thinks of ourselves as a part of The Avengers - we also consider ourselves an extraordinary group of individuals dedicated to solving the world's hardest problems.

This theme was showcased throughout our merchandise for the weekend, and we even had one of our engineers build a massive 3D-printed Thor's Hammer.

We called our challenge "Thor's Challenge" as only the strongest team and the winner of our prize category would be able to lift Thor's hammer at the end of the event.

We had an astonishing 150 students sign up for our challenge, which was more than any other company at the event. Moreover, we had over 20 teams pitch to our judging panel during the final day.

The winning team Chase.io - is certainly worthy of lifting Thor's Hammer

The winning team, Chase.io, built a game that helps you gain points based on your map location and allows you to absorb ‘weaker' players based on your heart rate level!

The runner ups from team EpiSensor built an outstanding iOS application within 24 hours

The runner-up, team EpiSensor, was an equally impressive team that built an iOS mobile application that detects seizures from your wearable!

During the hackathon weekend, we also had the opportunity to hold a workshop, where our engineers Alex, Hanbo, and Rishav presented in front of roughly 200 students and educated these exceptional hackers on the limitless possibilities and applications of Terra's API.

Terra's engineering team explaining our API in detail to hackers and outlining its capabilities

It is safe to say that this weekend was a massive success, and we have spread the possibilities of our API among exceptional students at one of the best Universities in the world.

Hanbo, Halvard, and Rishav signing off from IC Hack 2023 - see you all next year
