June Updates

🔧🔧🔧

june..webp

TL;DR:

  • Added support for activity sessions, webhooks, Catapult, and GymAware to the Teams API for better team data integration.
  • Released Terra Health Scores to simplify understanding of health metrics with personalized scores like sleep and activity stress.
  • Introduced customizable permission screens for data privacy, allowing developers to select specific permissions displayed to users.

New Integrations & Data Types for Teams API:

🛠 ️ What?

We've significantly expanded our Teams API by adding support for activity and training sessions, introducing webhook support, and integrating with Catapult and GymAware. These enhancements allow coaches and teams to seamlessly access and manage comprehensive performance data from various sources.

⚙️ How?

Implementing these features required extensive infrastructure upgrades and integration efforts. For each new integration, we meticulously mapped the data structures from providers like Catapult and GymAware to our own. This ensures a uniform and coherent interface for accessing diverse data types. The addition of webhooks enables real-time data updates, making it easier for developers to receive and process information.

🤔 Why?

Our goal is to make the Teams API a robust product that supports any team-based integration. As demand for these integrations grows, offering a wide range of supported systems and simplifying data reception through webhooks ensures an optimal development experience. We want to provide our users with the tools they need to easily integrate and utilize team-based performance data.

Terra Health Scores 🏥

🧪 What?

We are excited to announce the official release of Terra Health Scores! This new product includes various scores that represent different aspects of a user’s health, such as sleep scores, activity stress scores, and readiness scores. These scores provide a comprehensive overview of an individual's health status.

⚙️ How?

To develop these personalized health scores, we collaborated with early adopters, leveraging our data science and health research teams. We analyze historical data for each user to create a personalized baseline. For example, we evaluate a user’s most recent sleep data against their historical sleep patterns. This approach allows us to generate tailored scores that reflect an individual’s unique health metrics, rather than relying on generalized population data.

🤔 Why?

Understanding health and fitness metrics can be challenging, often requiring users to interpret complex data. By offering Terra Health Scores, we simplify this process, providing users with clear, actionable insights. Our aim is to move away from one-size-fits-all metrics, promoting a vision of personalized healthcare that adapts to each user’s unique health profile.

Integration-Specific Custom Permissions

🔐 What?

We’ve introduced a new feature that allows developers to customize the permission screens for each provider. This means developers can choose which permissions to display when users connect their devices through Terra, such as showing only "Heart rate" and "Steps" while omitting "Sleep" on the Fitbit permission screen.

⚙️ How?

This feature was designed to address a key user experience issue. By enabling developers to configure permissions, we ensure that the user journey remains intuitive and non-intrusive. Developers can now select the most relevant data types for their applications, enhancing user trust and comfort.

🤔 Why?

Many users are concerned about privacy and the breadth of data access permissions requested. By allowing customization of permission screens, we strike a balance between collecting comprehensive data and respecting user privacy. This approach helps prevent users from feeling overwhelmed or hesitant about sharing their data, fostering a more secure and user-friendly environment.

These updates reflect our ongoing commitment to innovation and user satisfaction, ensuring Terra continues to lead in health and fitness technology. 🚀🌟
